RISD’s Woods-Gerry Gallery
We are lucky to live in a community filled with established and emerging artists. Some RISD galleries are now open to the public (masks required) including the Woods-Gerry Gallery on the first floor of 62 Prospect Street. The gallery is the primary exhibition space for RISD undergraduates and is hosting a show by graphic design students through November 14th.
The Woods-Gerry House, also home to the RISD admissions office, was designed by Richard Upjohn and built in 1860 for Dr. and Mrs. Marshall Wood. It was later purchased by Peter Gerry (great grandson of the man who lent his name to the term gerrymandering) who represented RI in the U.S. House and Senate. RISD bought the house in 1959, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.
