Our Ward
Ward 2 is a historic, residential community nestled in the northeast corner of Providence. The ward begins in the Swan Point Cemetery and runs south along Blackstone Boulevard, touching the edges of Wayland Square before extending west, through Brown University’s campus and down the hill to the RI School of Design and the Providence River. Ward 2 includes the Blackstone, Wayland, and College Hill neighborhoods and is home to 6 city parks, 2 world-class universities, several small business districts, and many community organizations. One of the oldest areas of Providence, Ward 2 hosts many significant architectural treasures stretching from the Seekonk River to Benefit Street, one of the most impressive concentrations of Colonial architecture in the nation.
